| John Earle Chason was born in Mobile, Alabama on October 22, 1937. He attended the University of Alabama where he obtained his undergraduate degree in 1960 and his law degree in 1961. While attending law school, he was a member of the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity.
He was admitted to the Alabama Bar Association in 1961 and has engaged in the active private practice of law since then, focusing on civil matters, in state and federal courts, both at the trial level and on appeal. He was a member of the Board of Bar Commissioners from 1986 until 1995 and served as Vice-President of the Alabama State Bar Executive Committee from 1992 to 1993. From 1987 until 1992 he was also a charter member of the Alabama Law Foundation Board of Trustees. He is a member of the Baldwin County Bar Association and served as its President from 1994 to 1995.
In addition to his active law practice, Mr. Chason served as Presiding Municipal Judge for the City of Bay Minette for 32 years, and currently serves as Assistant Municipal Judge. During that time he was a member of the Alabama Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Municipal Courts. In 1990, he received the Distinguished Service Award by the Alabama League of Municipalities.
Mr. Chason has also been an active member of the community. He served on the Board of Directors and has been President of the North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce. He has served on the Board of Directors of the North Baldwin United Way, and on the Board of Directors for the Bay Minette Kiwanis Club. He has also been a long-standing member of the First United Methodist Church of Bay Minette, serving as one of its official board members, lay leader, and Sunday school teacher.
Mr. Chason currently practices in the areas of civil litigation, personal injury defense, products liability defense, real estate litigation, probate, wills and estates. He is presently Of Counsel to the firm.
